My card for the Ways to use it challenge 173. The challenge today was to use scoring on our projects. Other than for folds, I don't usually use scoring, partly because I don't have a score pal. Actually that's not a great excuse because it just wasn't that hard to do it the old-fashioned way...with a ruler and bone folder. I've been wanting to try this grid scoring thing for a while, but was clinging to my old excuse.
Started with the grid and decided it reminded me of a quilt...which reminded me of my grandmother....which reminded me of my great aunt Cal's millenary store back in the day. I have cards and cards of antique buttons from her store and a whole jar of loose ones from the same place. The card just evolved from there.
The paisleys are heat embossed with versafine brown ink and clear ep. The white in the paisley is done with a white reinker and a blending pen. Heat embossed with white detail ep. Ran a little, but my white gel pen decided to poop out this morning. Sponged close to cocoa ink over the whole panel after I colored the rest of the paisleys with SU markers. The sentiment is from Darcie's. The buttons are tied with ancient button thread. Sewing is faux stitching done with the placement grid and a black marker. Flannel plaid on the card base because every layer should have something on it...right?
Thanks for looking!!

Wow, you really made a beauty! I love the scoring and stitches-a great combination. Great colors and love the buttons.

This is glorious. I have button envy right now! What a lovely story about your grandma and your Aunt Cal's millinery store. I thought you'd used DP but then read about how you made the paisleys ... wow, beautifully done!
