I made this for Beate's WSC50.
It nearly didn't happen. I made 6 attempts at misting, and when I finally got something that I was happy with, it was too large for the card I wanted to make. That was all of Saturday night and some of yesterday.
So last night I started all over again, choosing an image that WAS small enough for what I wanted to make.
The poorly owl is a Rubbadubbadoo stamp - I love him, but he really only works for something like get well - or a hangover, I suppose, LOL. I stamped him and his greeting with brown Staz-On, and coloured him with Twinkling H2Os. If you can't see in the picture, over his eye-lids is actually a deep cobalt blue / purple.
The backing paper is from the DCWV Pocket full of Posies Mat pack. I spent ages looking through all my Bazzill, no oranges, so I used a pre-cut orange card blank. I punched the corners, and added little blue gems.
The band running across the bottom caused me more grief than any other sketch I have ever followed. I tried out about 6 different combinations and didn't like any of them. So in the end I textured some brown card with the Fiskars Woodgrain texture plate, and cut out a branch shape. The leaf sequins are from the Early Learning Centre, and I punched flowers. No brads small enough to put in the centre, and it was getting so late I wasn't going to try setting the teeny tiny eyelets, so I just punched little 1/16 circles in orange and stuck them on. Now, when everything was stuck down I decided the edges of the mat weren't defined enough, so with a ruler I carefully went over them with a dark blue Sharpie.
I'd say I'm about 70% happy with it this morning. I thought it looked like a great sketch, I think it's just too hot and sunny here (for once) for me to find a lot of inspiration.
