I made this with two challenges in mind. I was really inspired by the beautiful sun catchers from the inspiration challenge on Saturday but did not have a chance to play until today. Today's technique challenge is to watercolor and emboss.
This is a mix of watercolor techniques. For the smaller flowers I stamped them in summer sun, then used watercolor markers to highlight and shade with a blender brush. The large sunflower on the left was done by using watercolor marker directly applied to the stamp after it was inked with summer sun. I then went in and blended a bit with the blender brush after it was stamped. The butterfly is inked, and highlighted with watercolor marker by thumping. Then I further blended the colors with the blender pen on the paper. I used the watercolor markers direct to paper for the grass leaves and stems, and blended on the paper.
I embossed all the images in stages. I brayered the sky and landscape using post it notes to mask areas. I also added in some sponging in the sky and the base. Thanks to Zindorf for the inspiration and general technique for this! Check out her blog for detailed tutorials!
Thanks for taking a closer look!

this is really wonderful. It was that great watercolor feel to it - kind of dreamy.
