Okay be gentle girls... This is my first time coloring bird images. I finally broke down and bought some Marthastweart ones from Michaels. I really really need practice coloring them. Not very pleased with the coloring. Any suggestions would be great. Remember be gentle...

Thanks for looking!

One of the things that I have learned about coloring stamped objects is that you do not have to be perfect. The color does not have to be of consistent darkness throughout the image, white spaces are okay. These things add demnsion and character to the card. That character is part of the reason why people appreciate a handmade card more than a store bought one. I think your card looks fabulous and you are being too hard on yourself (that's okay, I am the same way). Thanks so much for sharing. Kathy

Your coloring is fine!
When I first colored a bird image I looked for a site that had bird art and printed off the birds I wanted. I had them in front of me as I worked. It allows you to get fairly realistic coloring.
Here's one of the sites I used:

The coloring is beautiful and with both of your bird cards you have inspired me to take these stamps out again and try to color again. I bought these stamps a year ago and used them once and then haven't because I too am insecure with the coloring ability with all the beautiful copics, waterpainting and etc.. I am going to try again and thank you for sharing these. I love the layout and pretty satin ribbons too!

You have been entirely too hard on yourself. I just love the bright color of the ribbon, the yellow background paper and the bird looks wonderful. TFS your talents with us all.

Lovely!! I really like your bird! And the sentiment is really nice! I like to look at birds online and see how they are colored differently. Or a good bird identification book!
