This is my second mailbox made in honor of Mr. Kenneth Gaskins, the Principal of my daughter’s school, Bronx Leadership Academy and a personal hero of mine. I had a much easier time than with my first. I needed to make a manly mailbox for this wonderful man. I used DP Bali Breeze because of the blue and love adding River Rock CS. I used both sides of the DP Bali Breeze. The blossom side could not be resisted so, I used just a tiny bit to cover the lid’s edge and also on the flag. I let that piece overlap around 1/16” and used my scoring tool to flatten it to the front of the lid with the aid of red liner ¼’ tape. Then, I placed the River Rock CS lid cover over it. I also repeated this for the back. I had to attach a short ribbon tab at the bottom to keep the lid from slipping off. I used SU’s Delight in Life stamps for Mr. Gaskins because of his always optimistic attitude. Although, a mailbox for a man, couldn’t help the flowers. I love sponging, so I used it when I could. On the flag, ribbons which include SU’s River Rock with another grosgrain non SU blue. Notice the small heart button.

I love the mailbox and especially like the fact that he is honored while he is still living. Hope he knows what you just share with all of us about him.
