The challenge is use forms of leather in our card creating and mine is the lighter brown leather textured paperÂ…which I hoard and sure wish I could find more of it.
-The sun is a circle I cut from left over rubber. All other images are from Cornish Heritage Farms and the mountain is a retired image.
-The end result of the image is a combo of sponging, masking and watercolor with re inkers and artist brush.
-Inspiration comes from but doesnÂ’t look like a Patrick Coffaro poster, check out his awesome prints here. http://www.allposters.com/gallery.as...atrick+Coffaro
Art posters are a great source of inspiration for me and I try to give credit where itÂ’s due. That poster site has a ton of inspiring art works and I can get lost in time just browsing.
-This is a semi glossy paper (not a high shine) which lets me move the ink around after sponging it on - if I donÂ’t wait to long. I stamped the two cacti and masked off then added the mountains and masked it off. I use post it notes for my masking material and store for future use.
-The sun was stamped with the rock and roll technique and also water colored to blend the colors using an artist brush and some reinker. I masked it off to sponge on the blue in the sky. Remove the mask and pull some streaks out from the sun with the artist brush and water.
-Next the sky is masked off and the mountain is sponged on using a couple colors for blending.
-Now mask off the mountain at the bottom and also another piece to separate the ground colors and this time I sponged on the color, but I have done this with a brayer. And I repeat this step until all ground colors are on. Then they get a little water wash to blend and add interest.
-I stamped on the small grass and added the wild flowers stems free hand and then use a period rubber image to dot on some flowers. The small grass is also stamped in gray throughout the low ground area which isnÂ’t real visible but gives a nice texture to the landscape.
-Removed all the masking and colored in the cacti.
-Paper pierced the corners.
-Square punch cut corner to corner is the tab with the snap inserted with the Crop a dile.
It seems like a lot of steps but when you get used to doing scenery and already have your masking sources cut…it’s a piece of cake – so good and gone before you know it…LOL!

Extraordinary desert scene, Rox--the coloring is so rich and warm--you are forcing me to put these in the cart when they come out--just hope I can do 1/10 as good as this!
