I told my stamp clubbers that I wasn't going to do anymore Christmas cards since I did them in October and November, but I got this idea and just couldn't resist! The layout and colorblocking idea for the card is based on this one by stampcrazy1: Christmas Card 2007 by stampcrazy1 at Splitcoaststampers
I just picked some patterns I liked from the Dashing DSP and this is what I ended up with. At first I had the colorblocks mounted on Old Olive cardstock, but they just seemed to "sink" into the Old Olive, so I switched it to Not Quite Navy--I think the DSP pops more now. Both the reindeer and the Christmas trees are colored with markers, and then I used a Post-It note to cover the snow on the bottom and applied Soft Sky ink with a sponge dauber for the sky. The SS ink is light enough not to muddy up the colors on the rest of it even if it's not masked off. I put a piece of Vanilla cardstock on the inside stamped with the sentiment from the same stamp set.
There's a poem attached to the back of the Hershey's bar, I got it from this sample by Michelle Wooderson: Oh Fudge!! by MICHELLE WOODERSON at Splitcoaststampers
I changed it just a teeny bit in a couple areas, so here's my very slightly tweaked version:
Dashing through the malls
With groceries yet to buy,
Lessons, work and housecleaning,
LifeÂ’s so crazy! Why?
Bells on our telephone ring,
The machine will take the call.
We have no time for family or friends,
It drives us up the wall.
How are you? HowÂ’s your life?
We really want to know.
Hope youÂ’re ready for Christmas,
Now maybe it will snow.
A day or two ago,
We thought weÂ’d make a treat
For all our special friends,
A Christmas gift to eat.
Our intentions were top notch,
But our schedules would not budge.
So hereÂ’s this yearÂ’s edition
0f homemade Christmas fudge!
It's printed in teeny letters so that it will fit on the back of the candy bar. I'd already bought the candy so I was bound and determined to make it fit I used the big circly pattern from Dashing on this because I think the pattern is too big to use for most cards, but it works on the candy bar.
