This is my daughter Kate and the advent calendar that we made (my son helped too!) Obviously, we need to have two treats each day, and I'm struggling to find something that fits in - any suggestions?
Thanks Beate for coming up with this project - it's incredible!

WOW! That is way COOL. My kids would really like to do this one. We always think of something to make for the Christmas holiday. Off to Michaels. Thanks for sharing!

I was able to fit slips of paper in that had a treat for the day...some were a pick from the candy jar, and some were family things such as bake cookies, visit Santa, look at lights, read The Christmas story, and make candy houses. Hope that helps. You may want to try the inexpensive brands of hard wrapped candy, 3 of those fit nicely into some of my tins as well.

Great job, it looks great. I haven't uploaded pictures of the three I made yet, but I did filled all of the 72 tins. I used little holiday erasers, stickers, those little capsules that when put in warm water turn into little shaped sponges, choc balls, little choc snowmen and choc coins. Just some ideas.

Thanks for all the help ladies - I really appreciate all the great ideas. In the end I wimped out and found those little chocolate balls at Laura Secord (Canadian chocolate store!) and managed to fit 4 into each tin. Two chocolates each every morning and then send them to school! Woohoo! Next year I will try to be more creative. I thought about putting in appropriate bible verses (along with the chocolates, of course), but that's just gonna take too long right now! (since I don't have many of them memorized!)
