What a fun project! This is my first attempt at a tree and I'm hooked- I know what DD's teacher and my secretaries are getting for the holidays (LOL!).
I used some of the Basic Grey Fruitcake paper I had stashed from last year and ribbon from a gift I received from Williams Sonoma (dark green and too pretty to throw out). The only variations I made was to use green styrofoam cones (which are great if you end up with little spaces) and flat head quilting pins so the paper lies flat and you don't see any colors underneath. TFL!

You could use a thimble to push the flat head pins in.
I just love this one! Basic Grey paper is awesome. I wish I bought this paper last weeek when it was 1/2 off at Hobby Lobby!!
