Here's a picture of the cake I made for my Christmas card stamp camp guests and helpers. It was filled with chocolate covered almonds (or sealed packets of chewy fruit candy for those with nut allergies).
If I were to do it over again, I would stamp the sides of the cake a bit darker. I used the template from the May 2007 issue of Stampin' Success Canada and I did the top two tiers of the cake. A circle of Always Artichoke separated the layers and I glued the pieces lightly in place with snail so the cake wouldn't fall all over the place. It was still easy to take the pieces out though. The pinecones were embossed with Irridescent Ice ep and embellished with Liquid Applique.
The cake topper was made with a circle of Always Artichoke with River Rock paper spirals (wrapped thin strips of paper around a pen) and real pinecones hot glued in place.
This project was a lot of cutting, but also a lot of fun to make.
NB. I repositioned the template pattern for the top tier to get two pieces per sheet of paper. For the second tier it needed one sheet per piece. There were 10 cake pieces on the top layer and 11 cake pieces on the bottom layer.
