I'm thinking about making some of these for Christmas, but I cherish my Christmas DSP's more than I do my fall-themed papers so I decided to do a trial run for Thanksgiving. Must say, this is a FUN project!
I used the Apple Cider DSP from SU and 12x12 artichoke cardstock to layer it on. To give an idea of paper use, You get six printed banner "flags" per 12x12 and 4 "flag" outlines per 12x12. Like the lovely Jenn Balcer I used scalloped scissors to trim the outline pieces. If you are making these I would suggest the outline. I started laying it out without the outline but it just didn't have the "pop" I like. Plus, the outline gives a bit more stability to the DSP flags.
I used Sticky Strip to layer the outline and the DSP. I also adhered the "flags" to the Chocolate Chip ribbon with Sticky Strip before I secured them with the jumbo eyelets on each upper corner of the flags. I had some trouble getting the Crop-o-Dial to puncture the ribbon without it wanting to pull or shred, so I grab the trusty crafter's tool kit and used the old hammer and large hole maker to make the holes for setting the eyelets.
The large scallops are popped with non SU dimensionals that are thicker. The smaller dimensionals didn't stand out as much as I wanted. Each letter was stamped with Choc Chip craft, let dry, and then colored with a shimmer pen. Love the effect! Each flag is lines with copper Stickles also.
This goes alot faster than you would think. The actual "hands on" time for the entire project (not including drying time) was under 90 minutes.
One final note: Jenn's directions tell you to cut your ribbon twice the length of your banner. On a banner this size that is not necessary unless you want alot (and I do mean alot) of extra ribbon on each end.
Thanks for looking!
