The Jan08VSNmini7 challenge was to make a place name, napkin ring and menu for a holiday table.
Since I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year this was a great opportunity to make me get going on my table settings!
For the Place card container - I used a pattern I found on SCS - from Debbie Naylor - vafroggie44 that I had printed out last Feb.
these are her instructions: 'Cut your cardstock to 8 x 4. Score/fold it in half so that you have a 4 x 4 square. Open it back up and on each 4 inch end, mark the center at 2 inches, then score from the fold to the mark on both sides getting 4 score lines. You should see a scored diamond shape when you open it back up if done correctly. Fold it all together and you get the triangle shape. Punch holes on each side to run your ribbon through to hold it all closed.'
For the napkin holder I just cut a piece of DP 1 inch x 8 inches and cut slits on opposite sids 1 inch in from each end to slip together - Then I attached my ovals with the turkey on it to one of the ends.
I printed my menu and name on the computer. The brad on the menu is a cute little leaf but it doesn't show on the picture.
I think my table will look very festive with all these fun things on it!
TFL!

My stars Julia, this is beautiful!!!! May I come to your place for dinner??? I don't know if I have fancy enough clothes to wear!! What a menu - and imagine having a place card!!!! I guess we really rough it in my family ;) Also, of course we celebrate Christmas on the first Monday in October in Canada...gives us a little breathing space til December! Really lovely!

Oh Julia, your table is going to be so desirable this year, I bet Martha herself would be in awe! This is fabulous! I love your napkin ring and a place card container, how clever--not just a place card anymore! Great menu too, it's all so beautiful! Thanks for sharing the instructions, even though I'm not hostessing Turkey day this year, it's going right into my faves for some other occasion. wonderful work

Wow, this is absolutely breathtaking. You are inspiring me to create something for our table. My extended family is not too into decorations...one Thanksgiving, my mom wondered why would I put sliced oranges on the platter around the turkey. She is a down home simple, awesome lady but no frills attached. Maybe I will dazzle her a bit this year.
You did an awesome job with your table settings. Enjoy the holiday.

Wow, this is just lovely.
The reverse scallopes on the menu pick up the scallops on the napkin ring and the turkey's tail so nicely. And that twist of ribbon anchored with the pretty brad is terrific!
