Well, I have always wanted to try embossing velvet fabric with a stamp and an iron, so I thought today's Ways To Use It challenge would be perfect!
And it worked perfectly too---so perfectly that I went CRAZY embossing tons of my velvet scraps!! Yikes!! I have no idea when I'll get a chance to use them all!
LOL, And then when I got done, I couldn't figure out how to use the angel---just kept staring at it!
I took so many pics trying to get a good one of the angel, but this is the best my camera would do. The angel isn't quite so dark IRL---she shows up better.
Here's the deets:
For the velvet---lay your stamp face up, place your velvet on top, moisten the back of the velvet with water from a spray bottle, and press the back of the velvet with a hot iron for about 20 seconds. Then I wrapped my embossed image around some thin cardboard to give it some weight so I could work with it.
For the rest of the card---I stamped French Flair on the dp (you'd think I would have at least managed to get one dove in a crucial viewing area, but noooooo!), stamped the star in blue bayou and then glitterified it and put a blue gem in the center, watercolored the Jerusalem landscape and then overstamped it with Fine Lace, and lastly I sponged and distressed the paper edges. Oh, and the angel is popped up. I kept wanting to embellish the angel too, but I never could settle on anything...
The inside has the sentiment from Peace and Love---about the C'mas star shining into our hearts, just in case not knowing would keep you up tonight *wink*
TFL!

This turned out awsome! I tried to do this today also, but all I had was thick red velvet ribbon with a plastic back. Needless to say it melted to the towel I had over it. I thought it would melt but I really wanted to try it with the huge hope that it would work. Oh well, at least someones worked. Well done!

I'm sorry, I just can't see the angel on this scan. However, the rest of the card is lovely, and I assume the angle is too. Love the ribbon and the pearls.

Oh, I'm so pleased this was listed in the Favorites Forum for Week Ending 11/11/07! If it wasn't, I would have missed it, and that would have been tragic. What a masterpiece! I love the entire, elegant creation and was amused by your entertaining description of how it came together. TFS!
