For today's Inspiration Challenge, Karen encouraged us to make a card for somebody that inspires us. You know how cards take on a life of their own? Well, I started out with these colors and somebody totally different in mind. As the card came together, I kept seeing my wonderful Step Mother, so it became a Mothers Day card for her. Her birthday isn't until June, so Mothers Day it is!
The card is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and is scored at 1 1/4" and 5 1/2" so the fold is only 1 1/4" at the top. The floral layers are a flap that was secured to the scored opening with sticky strip and the card is tied shut with the ribbons. The filligree stamp is a acrylic stamp by Stampington & Co. and is part of the yuletide Elements collection. I use it all the time as it makes such a nice vintage background. The sentiment is embossed with retired SU! Dk. Brown EP. The Shading and sponging were done with Tim Holtz distress ink, tattered rose.
