Stampin' Up markers were used to watercolor the oak leaves by tracing the inner edge of the image with the marker, and then quickly using my waterbrush to pull out the color. You have to do small segments at a time so the ink doesn't have time to soak in. Work from the lightest colors to the darkest and leave some light space for highlights. This is my first time trying out this technique, so I do need some practice. It was a little tedious at first, but I think as I get better, it will go more quickly. Check out Chrissy Armstrong's gallery (#1artist4highhopes) for some amazing examples of this technique!
