In the middle of making this year's Halloween cards (this was a week-long process), I realized that making Halloween cards was last week's Ways To Use it challenge, WT128. How timely!
I used bats from four 'sets' for this card. I didn't realize I had so many bats! I like Halloween stamp sets, but they only get to be used once per year. I told myself that this year I have to use an old set to make my Halloween cards instead of buying a new set of stamps.
This year, I also wanted to use some glow-in-the-dark embossing powder. I finally came up with this design. The green crescent moon is the glow-in-the-dark part of the card, and I made it by dabbing versamark ink on Gable Green paper, then embossing it with the Glow-in-the-dark powder. It appears that large areas need to be embossed in order to get the glow-in-the-dark to really show. The glow-in-the-dark powder is green, and the resulting moon is close to 'Green Galore' in color.
Two moons, you may wonder? It is in honor of the lunar eclipse which occured last night. :-)
The card base is white. I smeared a black ink pad around the edges to turn them black. I didn't bother trying to get even coverage, since I liked the 'distressed' look. It adds mystery or something.
To get the tree to be over the moon, I made a template of where elements were to be on the card, then I used a stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the card and each moon piece before gluing them all together.
