The artistic look of this stamp just grabbed me and I wanted to use stamping ink and colored pencils to "paint" this beautiful image. The stamp is a large Hydrangea Fresco by Paper Inspirations. I love hydrangeas, especially the bluish, purple ones. But this stamp suggested colors that emphasized the green and rust that developes as the hydrangea starts to fade. The aged golden background adds an earthy touch to this image which really makes the whole image sufficient for a card. I used chalks, and ink pads, as well as colored pencils and markers to get just the right colors and emphasis on the petals and the leaves. It was a combination of Versa Magic Oasis Green with Light Chocolate from Inket and Chestnut from Memories as well as Colorbox Lime just to get the right inks on the stamp. I had to follow with Precision Pens and Marvy Markers in rusts and lime green. I then added blue and purple shading with chalks and Prismacolor pencils to add the flower. All this was done on an bluish, aqua paper which I matted with a slight lime green and placed on a brown card. The brown card was stamped with a texture block stamp using the same inks that I had used with the original stamp as well as white ink from a Blanco pad. I then used word stamps from Hero Arts to place a script sentiment that blended into the image of the flower.
