I guess even when a technique goes *bad* it can still be salvaged for something...
I was trying a new technique I saw in this month's Paper Crafts--Stripped Paint (involves Vaseline and paint)--but didn't quite get the look I was hoping for. Maybe that's because I only had black paint and a Vaseline-like substance. Might have worked better with another color and the real stuff?
Anyway, I started with a weathered looking piece of teal Basic Grey paper, but it looked kinda sage-y when I got done, so that's what I mounted the scene on. The moon was colored on using Yo-yo yellow marker first, but that didn't look right, so then I used a scrap rubber circle I had cut to overstamp it in whisper white.
The houses are from Right at Home. Didn't have any scary house stamps, so I tried to color them to look more eerie. The fence was hand-drawn to resemble the iron fence from one of SU's older sets. The trees from Loads of Love are inked in whishper white, and stamped off first.
Looks better IRL, and for an *accident* card, I like the way it turned out.
