Hello! This is an update to my unmounting process that I originally did a few weeks ago. At that time, I nuked my wood mounted stamps and peeled both rubber and foam off together and then stored in my cd cases. They still had enough sticky on them that I figured I may as well use them that way first. Well, picky as I am, I had two problems with this system. The first, my stamps were way too hard to get out of my cd case and second, they guncked (?) up my cases. Soooo..to remedy this, I've gone ahead and redone them all using EZ Mount from Sunday International. The attached picture shows just how many (13-14) SU sets I got on one and a half sheets of EZ Mount. It goes a long way! After trimming, I bought new cd cases (nice and clean!) and waa-laa...perfect! Take my advice..if you are thinking of unmounting..go the whole nine yards and do it right. You will be glad you did! Hope this will help! Thanks for looking!
ps-I used SU Craft scissors

wow...this is pretty cool! Question, do you use acrylics mounts to stamp? Also, how do you store them so that when you are looking for a particular stamp set, you know where or on what sheet it is on??

Shaynes, I got the regular EZ mount not the thin kind. From my recent experience, I'd take your stamps down to the rubber and remount using EZ Mount.
Tere, Thank you again!
Claudia & Msdaquiri, in my gallery are the pics on how I store my stamps now. I have a very tiny space. Unmounting, and then storing in cd cases really freed up my stamping area. And yes, I use acrylic handles now.
Wildbasket, you can buy sheets from Sunday International with three hole punch to store your stamps on. The cd cases take us less room and worked better in my area.
Kris, EZ Mount is a foam mounting product that has "sticky" on one side to attach your rubber to and the backside has a special coating that allows you to use acrylic handles. I'm not good at attaching Sunday International's sight, I'm sorry. They have a how-to on thier site.
I switched all of my stamps over to EZMount almost 2 years ago and have never looked back. I'm so glad that I did it and I'm sure you will be too. Like you, I store mine in standard (not slimline) CD cases (with the insert removed) and put a DYMO label at the end of the case. I store them in CD organizers in alphabetical order. My retired sets get a red star so I can quickly tell it's retired when I am planning a stamp class. I am considering switching my small words (like Everyday Flexible Phrases) on the thin EZMount so I get less rocking with the stamp, but the basic stamps are perfect on the standard foam.
