When I was a little girl I used to think that being in heaven with all the animals would be so much fun. We had bible story books that showed all the animals with kids in different kind of scenes. I'm not sure I would really want to get too close to a blue and guava snake but the rest of these guys look fun.
I stamped my images with stazon and masked as necessary to create the scene. I sketched the tree behind the rhino and knew there was going to be a monkey hanging around in there somewhere. I sponged on wasabi for the ground and leaf areas and then used my mini fern stamp to fill in. I got the idea to put water in the bg so I masked off an area all the way across the bg to create a straight water line. I then sponged on soft sky in for the water. It was so pretty when I got through but it looked the animals were standing in front of the ocean. So.....I took my small sponge daubed wasabi all around on the other side of the water to create the look of a river with the bank in the distance. I sponged the sky with soft sky (which really looks like ocean blue to me) and then highlighted by sponging banana along the grass edge and then used a small stipple brush to add some guava shade along the edge as well. I used a small mini tipped sponge applicator to apply little guava flowers along the landscape as well. I cut a slit in the tree to put the monkey tail through so I could hang him. He looks so cute popped up over the tree that I decided I had to pop up the complete leopard??? (who knows) body, the head of the zebra and rhino. I decided I needed to paint one more leopard head to apply over the second layer to make him look like he was popping out of the scene. I know...I know... I'm a big dreamer. When I got everything finished I felt the right corner looked so plain so I pulled some white grosgrain across the soft sky pad so I could put a strip across the corner. It sort of looked dumb and I didn't want to tie a knot on it and then got the idea to paint and cut out the snake and wind it around the ribbon. All this picture really needs is an ark.
PS....after this uploaded and I saw it open I reazlied I got really heavy handed with mustard on just one leg of the cat. Too strange that I missed that and didn't fix it.
