I also hand-drew the Russian characters that didn't resemble any American ones. The Russian at the bottom means "Thanks a lot".
The word "merci" is from the French version of "Simply Said". The entire original stamp said "tout simplement...merci". I cut off the "merci" part and mounted it alone on the end of the wood block.
