What fun this was to make!!! First, let me give credits & acknowledgements where due. What started it: my up-upline challenged us to do something with a drink carrier; next I saw an Altered set of Starbucks Frap bottles & carrier on Tayloredexpressions blog (http://tayloredexpressions.blogspot..../Altered%20Art and scroll down) (upon seeing THAT with the candies, it dawned on me I could do a survival kit for my BIL in these as opposed to in a single jar... so I was off and running once getting Dannie's OK to NOT use the carriers she gave us). You can find 'survival kits' lists for nearly any occassion at this site: http://www.sawyers-specialties.com/survival-kits/
The carrier and bottles are covered in Petals & Paisleys DP from the Spring Mini. On the handle of the carrier: Spiral paper clips with assorted ribbon. Front of carrier: I used a Making Memories Tag Maker, inserting Artichoke CS with Swirls vellum on top of it; the rings were made from 2 of the small tags without any CS in them. Bottle Tops: Punched circles of Saffron, Celery, Artichoke, & Petals & Paisley DP and then a little stamping with stamps that echoed the circular spotty theme (little pieces, large pieces, on the spot), then added some metal floral embellishments I've had for years in my "treasures" box. The Humongus Paperclip: (please don't ask where I got it, I don't remember) I adhered more Petals & Paisleys DP to chipboard coasters then used sizzix dies to cut the varying circles, glued them back to back on the paperclip, added more 'treasures', gathered up gingham ribbon & glued to the perimeter of the paperclip. On the back, I attached the 'ingredients list'... the Newlyweds Survival Kit in a booklet/cardlet format, printed out on Vanilla CS folded into booklet pages, stamped with Mini Mates images, & covered in the DP. The cover has sponged edges, stickles, liquid pearls, & ribbon. Example of a couple items in the kit: PUZZLE PIECE: Because you're an important part to each others lives; A STICK OF GUM: to help you stick together....
This is for my DH's brother and wife-to-be, they're getting married next week... and this will have to hold them over until their 'real' gift arrives.
