As a kid we would lie and watch the fireflies and they seemed to be as high as the moon from where weÂ’d lie on the ground; great memories so why not put it in a card. We also had an old grey church in our little town in Kansas.
I first cut the glossy cardstock panels and temporarily attached the small to the larger. I rock and rolled the moon in two colors and stamped; stamped again using a resist ink. The church scene was stamped; you will get a white section that doesnÂ’t cover due to the top layer of cardstock but that will be covered with the border layers.
Now using a resist ink pen (Versa Mark) add the tiny dots that will become your fireflies. Mask off the church using a post it.
Sky: Using the polished stone technique and three colors of blue - tap the block starting from the moon and heading in a straight line toward the papers edge and grass line. This is what gives the effect of the moon glowing downward. When the ink on the block is almost gone tap on the moon and it will give it just enough color to give the moon character.
Remove the mask and color in the church and grass with re inker or pad ink. The darker it gets the more the fireflies will show up.
Remove the small section and add the border layers then reattach permanently.
This seems like a lot of steps but itÂ’s really fast and I so enjoy a making a scene.
