I did this page for SBTC65, which was to scrapbook a layout celebrating moms and include a quote. I actually ended up doing my page on ME being a mom and how wonderful (and sometimes difficult!!) it is for me. The quote I used is the title of my page and it was said by Abraham Lincoln..."Whoever you are, be a good one."
I also incorporated CC114. The word "one" is really Rose Red craft ink, but it looks like Ruby Red in the photo.
I did the kissing technique with the paisley stamp on the Big Blossom flower.
This is probably the most journaling I have ever done on a layout! The journaling reads:
"Parenting is absolutely 100% without-a-doubt the hardest job in the world. I love being a mom, but I am constantly challenged and being tested by both Jackson and God. God knows what I can handle. He has blessed me with an adorable and ornery child whom I simply adore. But there are days that I second-guess my every action throughout the day as to how I am raising my son. Abraham Lincoln once said “Whoever you are, be a good one.” Sounds simple enough, right?
“Whoever I am”…I am a mom. “be a good one.”…what exactly does that mean? Being a good mom is something that takes a lot of hard work, great wisdom, and tons of patience. Someone recently told me that God created humans to be parents and He does not expect parents to be perfect because humans are not perfect. Makes sense, but as a perfectionist, it is hard to accept the fact that I am human and will mess up from time to time. I want to be the perfect mom, but I must realize that there is no such thing. I can only strive to be an excellent mom. That is the journey I am on right now. I often get caught up in the hurriedness of life. I have learned that there is a difference between being busy and being in a hurry. Being busy is ok. Being in a hurry is not ok. I am not a good mom when I am in a hurry. I have challenged myself to go with the flow, embrace life, play more, and enjoy life’s little moments. These are things that an excellent mom does. I long to be a fulfilled mom. I want to speak into my children’s lives. I want to journey through the storms with my children. I want to transform them. I want to live my faith before them. Praying for them. Affirming them. Loving them. Appreciating them. Being affectionate towards them. Valuing them. Spending quality time with them. Being wise for them.
I am learning more and more everyday about how to be an excellent mom. God has been teaching me a lot on this topic and I have learned that, although I am not the perfect mom, I am a good mom because I want to be a good mom."
