I am not sure I like this, but it will have to do. I needed a graduation card for a nephew, and I was bound and determined to use burgundy and black (school colors) with stripes, but none of the striped paper I had matched the burgundy cs so I selected one to contrast. I did not want to use ribbon, so scalloped the edge of a strip. This card is pretty much a case of another card of mine which is a case of another card...
Edit: as I look at the larger image I can see a big smudge. I think I need to clean the scanner.

When you come up with a card that works, it works to use it again. And again. LOL You did a great job using the burgundy and black. Some school colors are more challenging than others. Contrasting paper was the way to go!
