I got to stay home from work today (because I had to work all day on Mother's Day), so I've been going back to do some of the challenges that I've missed lately. I loved this sketch and just had to use it, and I've challenged myself to use only retiring sets - which are mostly all I have - until the debut of the new catty next month. I've also been trying to use the new Prints Sampler and I especially love the Almost Amethyst ones.
I tried using the ink pad to watercolor, pressing the lid into the pad and picking up the ink from the lid, but it wasn't dark enough, so I scribbled the marker into the lid and was much happier with the results. I then went back to add a little shading with the marker while the CS was still damp and it bled a little, making it look blended quite well.
The stamped images are all cut out and popped up with dimensionals. I didn't even bother to cut out the legs and anntenae on the bee. Instead I just drew them directly onto the paper below. The wings are covered with a coat of Icicle Stickles.
I'm sending this card to my precious sister for her birthday.
