I made this card for my dad for Father's Day in 2000.
I did not have many stamps in 2000, so I made do with what I had. Back then, I started to make two of each card I made--one to send, and one to keep so I could watch my progress as a card-maker. So, I still have my sample, and I could photograph it to share today.
My dad was an engineer. The set I used was "Dreams and Dragons". Very un-masculine! This proves that you don't need masculine stamps to make a card for a man!
The whole card is a 4-page storybook. The text was computer generated and I added stamps to decorate the pages.
The story is a joke I was sent via email from an engineering student:
Cover:
An engineer was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess." He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket.
Page 2:
The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week." The engineer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket.
The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you and do anything you want." Again the engineer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket.
Page 3:
Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess, that I'll stay with you for a week, and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?" The engineer said "Look I'm an engineer. I don't have time for a girlfriend, but a talking frog, now that's cool!"
Page 4:
Dad, I am glad you didnÂ’t have to kiss any frogs to find your princess.
Thank you for having the time for a girlfriend, and for marrying her, and for having two daughters to send you cards on Father’s Day, and call you “Dad”, happily ever after!
Happy FatherÂ’s Day, Dad!

This is just wonderful! I'm married to an engineer and my dad is an engineer and so is my brother. I've heard this joke before and it's a good one. I love what you wrote for your Dad and I feel the same way about my dad. I like to think he wouldn't have kept the talking frog either. Great card and great idea to keep a copy. TFS!

This is great You could really plug in any profession you want here and make it personalized. But my Dad's retired! I guess he could say, "I'm done having girlfriends...." (I hope)
