This is a very simple project. The original pattern came from the web. (Mirkwood but they have a new web address now.)
I just print the pattern on the card stock and have each guest cut it out for themselves.
PRINTING NOTE:
I usually change the color of ink that I print it in according to the color of card stock that I'm using. That way there are no black lines to contend with. You can do this function in Publisher. Under the "Format" icon, select "Re-color picture" and then just scroll down to the color you want to use.
I print mine so that two fit vertially on one sheet of card stock. According to my measurements they are 4-1/8" x 9". I think I've stretched the original pattern to fit the area I needed. (You can do that in Publisher.)
VARIATION:
Fill the mug with a packet of soup or one of those deluxe cocoa mixes and a chocolate covered spoon instead of the snowman soup ingredients.
INGREDIENTS for SNOWMAN SOUP:
One packet of instant hot chocolate mix, a small candy cane for a âstirring stickâ, a Hershey Kiss and a few large size or mini marshmallows. Place all of these ingredients into a cello bag and add a topper that has the poem on it. Stamp with stamps such as a snowman, snowflakes, coffee mug, etc.
POEMS FOR SNOWMAN SOUP:
SNOWMAN SOUP POEM #1:
North Pole Snowman Soup
When it's so cold that
You holler and whoop,
It's time to bring out
The Snowman Soup!
Pour the packet in a mug.
Add marshmallows too.
Then throw in the kisses,
That were special sent for you.
Now add in some hot water
and use the cane to stir it.
Sip slowly now and soon you'll feel the warm winter spirit!
SNOWMAN SOUP POEM #2:
Snowman Soup
âWas told you've been real good this year.
Always glad to hear it!
With freezing weather drawing near,
You'll need to warm the spirit.
So here's a little Snowman Soup
Complete with stirring stick.
Add hot water, sip it slow.
It's sure to do the trick!"
SNOWMAN SOUP POEM #3:
North Pole Snowman Soup Recipe
Empty a packet of cocoa, into a special mug.
Fill with steamy water, add a Kiss and then a Hug.
Mix with the magic stirring stick, add a fat marshmallow,
Sit right down and sip it slow and you'll be a happy fellow!
HOMEMADE SNOWMAN SOUP RECIPE:
(Provided by my friend and fellow Splitcoast Stamper Sarah Darrigan)
3 cups powdered sugar
1 cup nonfat dry milk
2 cups instant NesQuik
3/4 cup non dairy creamer
1 large (6 oz.) box instant chocolate pudding
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl and store in an air tight container.
To enjoy, add 3 T. to a cup of boiling hot water. (Use more or less mix depending on the size of mug and your taste buds.)
__________________________________________________ ________
NOTE: The original recipe that I saw called for 16 oz. Instant chocolate
milk (such as NewQUik) and 6 oz. Non dairy creamer. Those were
probably the dry weights, but after trying it with the cup amounts first
and really loving it that way, I didn't add any more.
ENJOY this FUN project!

This is so adorable! I checked out the picture of your mug. Now do we enlarge this pattern? I print it and it seems to small to put all that you did in it. Also do you have the sizes or a template for the hat. I don't want much do I. Ha! Seriously thank you so much for sharing this with us. You did a wonderful job and I do want to try it out.
Barbara why don't you give me your e-mail addy and I'll send you the "templates" of the head and the hat that I've made. I would upload those too but I'd be afraid that everyone would vote them the strangest uploads ever. As for the mug pattern . . . I don't know what size it's showing but I print mine so that two fit vertially on one sheet of card stock. According to my measurements they are 4-1/8" x 9".
I would love the templates of the head and hat as well. Also, if you have the Publisher file saved I would appreciate a copy of that too. I use Publisher all the time but cannot get this one to come out exactly right. Guess it is the migraine I am fighting while trying to come up with co-worker gift ideas that is keeping me from making progress! Thanks for any help you can provide. My email addy is [email protected]
Thanks so much!
Michele
This is adorable! I am having trouble with the sizing of the template. Could you e-mail me the template in the size you use? [email protected]. Thanks so much!! Sue
