Last year, we started going to kids drum circles. This is a fun time when kids/parents sit in a big circle and play drums to a beat set by a facilitator. Instead of "don't touch", kids get to experiment with different percussion instruments and "jam" with their parents. Many of the rhythms we use in class are based on life sounds - such as walking, heartbeats, and laughter.
So this is a thank-you note for one of the facilitators and was inspired by the laughter rhythm (which sounds like "ha-ha, ha-ha, ha-ha, boom"!) I had such fun creating this card - the tiny drum turned out so cute! The drum was made by quilling some strips and then attaching a punched circle (which I aged a little and stamped with a swirl from the A Muse Paisley Numbers clear set). The drum stick is a toothpick with the ends clipped and quilling paper twirled around one end. The sentiment is a new A Muse Spring 2007 release (sneak peek)!

Oh this is so cool! I love the story that goes with it. My nephew played the drum in the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corp and my other nephew plays the tuba in the Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band. Band parents are the best!
Thanks so much for sharing this The drum and drum stick is awesome. And the colors you chose are so good.

I'm so glad I stopped to take a peek at your card. Love the idea of a parents and kids drumming group, you are so lucky! This card is just perfect as a thank you, very creative and appealing. Thanks for sharing!
