I did this for the You Go Girl challenge which was to create a vintage page using black and white photos and using greys, black, white, and cream papers celebrating a woman you look up to.
This is my Dad's aunt Jenny. Picture lifts to reveal journaling: This is my Aunt Jenny. She's my grandmother's sister. She was married to Nick Laracy who restored antique furnature. I never knew my Dad's uncle Nick but I remember visiting Aunt Jenny everytime we were in St. John and seeing his work throughout the house. Aunt Jenny was really fun to talk to and was a great lady. She was a tough women too. As an older woman living alone in her 70's, she was robbed. Two masked men broke into her house and tied her up. They took off with about $30 which was in her purse. They told her to wait 2 hours after they left before making a move. As soon as they were gone, she managed to untie herself and went to the neighbors right away. She refused to move and stayed in her house as long as she could. Ironically, the robbers would have got more if they took a salt and pepper shaker with all the antiques in the house. I was living in the US when it happened and heard it all long after it was over. She told her daughter and son, of coarse, but no one told the rest of the family. All her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews all heard about it on the news. I really admire her courage for staying in her house alone after such an event. I know I would not have that courage in me. I get scared when I'm home and Jason has to work late.
