This was a fun project to do, but very tedious. After browsing through the clipboard gallery, thought I may try it myself - one wasn't enough - I had to make 6!!!
It was tough figuring out the template for the top half of the clipboard - took a lot of tries to get it right - lots of measuring (what can I say, I am a perfectionist). Then after perfecting the template, I adhered the paper with Mod Podge. It was very sticky and you have to make sure that you get ALL of the air bubbles out when smoothing the paper! Once dried, I did another dose of Mod Podge to seal it. Mod Podgers beware - you have to make sure the paper is completely smooth after adhering it because once you seal it, some areas may bubble, but eventually smooth back down - Thank goodness! I was kind of disappointed at the clipboards at first until I started to add some embellishments like the ribbon. It was finally coming together...each clipboard is embellished with their first name initial, the word friends is stamped on the side on white paper using the A Little Love set. The initials were stamped with MM foam stamp using chestnut roan chalk inkpad. The papers came from M's Super Slab Rob and Bob Studio - LOVE these papers - the slabs always come with coordinating papers and now even comes with stickers and other paper embellies like tags. Ribbon was also bought from M's. The clipboards and multi-colored pads of paper were bought from Wal-Mart. The stamped circle "A Little Something" is a $1 stamp from M's. I also stamped "grateful" on the notepad to let my friends know how grateful I am that no matter what we all still manage to get together.
If you notice at the top right hand corner, I added a pen holder using grossgrain ribbon and a button - used 3D dots to keep it all together and to give the button a little depth. This was better and easier to do than trying to measure CS to make a pen holder or using a clothespin. Got this idea from "englishrose" for her beautiful garden clipboard. Thanks Englishrose for the idea!!!
Each clipboard is an early Christmas gift for 6 of my girlfriends whom I go out to dinner with every other month or so. Hope they like it!
