Two months ago we moved into a new house that we had built. I am so pleased with my room that I was lucky enough to have built into our upstairs family room. I think it is finally decorated, and as organized as it will ever be. It functions well for the way I scrapbook and stamp. The desk is a counter top and cabinets from IKEA. The paper storage trays were all accumulated over the years from garage sales/stores that have gone out of business. This is a new way for me to store my stamps, and it seems to work. They fit vertically in plastic shoe bins. i've organized them by category and labeled the sides. This room has two french doors that can be shut and locked from the inside so Mommy can get some PEACE while everyone else plays right outside the door.

Counter top and cabinets from Ikea eh? What a great idea. I might have to look into that. I have a large table. It is such a waste of space underneath. Were the cabinets fairly well priced? Do you use a bar stool when you use your desk then?

The counter top was around $50, as was each cabinet (this took 2). The pull out wire baskets were 2/$24, and the shelves were 2/$12. The whole thing was around $150, which is what we would have spent on lumber, and MUCH cheaper than the grumbled that would have been done during the many MONTHS it would have taken the DH to make one, like he had planned on doing (why do guys always think they can make one better than someone else has already invented?!)
