After stamping, I crumpled the red and the blue paper (with 'We Remember'). I then smoothed it out and inked some of the edges and bumps with ink. Also used the blade of my scissors to distress the edges. I added a poppy which we wear in Canada every year around Remembrance Day/Veterans Day.
I've got a bit of the In Flanders Fields poem (<--click to read full poem) on there as well as a white dove. I wanted to tie in remembering the sacrifice of many with the hope of P E A C E...which is why many serve our countries.

What a beautiful tribute to Canada's fallen. Just wonderful. I miss wearing a Poppy the week leading up to the 11th. Here in the US they don't wear them.

i love the layers, and the poppy, and especially the poem. at the school at which i teach the student who read that poem at the assembly made me cry my eyes out. very touching....
