I'm doing these for a kid's class and realized just how difficult it is for ADULTS to attach the foam sticky stuff to make the shaker SO, I used white craft foam. I cut the opening w/an x-acto. This way, they just use our SU glue stick to attach over the mitten; fill w/micro beads and put glue on the top of the craft foam frame and press the window/cover on. It sealed it just fine!

What a cute ornament! How funny you mention using the foam sheets- I just saw that Micheal's had some purple flower foam shaker kits in their bargain bin and thought I would have to try that myself- it seems like a much easier way to keep everything in the shaker. I never thought of trying these with the kids- what a great, easy project for them!

Nope, the foam is too thick for our punches -- that's what I WAS hoping to use but really, since you don't see the edges of the opening, you can be pretty 'haphazard' in the way you cut the opening with the x-acto blade so it goes pretty fast.
