April 1999
The McClanahan family hosted a dinner at Pleasant Valley CofC to say Thank you for all the prayers for Riley and so that some people can see Riley for the first time.
I am putting the poem that Riley's Aunt Cindy wrote for that event on the back of the page. Here is the poem:
I got the call on Friday night
I knew that this just couldnÂ’t be right.
Michelle said come and off I flew,
Wishing there was something, anything, I could do.
The word got around and soon you came
So many of you, too many to name.
You were there when we wanted to know why
You offered us shoulders on which to cry.
The doctors didnÂ’t hold out much hope
But there you were, helping us cope.
Riley did make it through that first night
Only to begin a very long fight.
The prayers went up to our Father above
And He began to teach of His wonderful love.
Riley soon began to beat all the odds.
We were shown great works of God.
WeÂ’ve come so far from that fateful day
With your love and support, weÂ’ve found our way.
RileyÂ’s alive, can see and can hear.
He even can smile, which always brings tears.
YouÂ’ve done so much for my family and me
YouÂ’ve been a great example for the world to see.
So to you all who are so dear
WeÂ’re glad youÂ’ve come, weÂ’re glad youÂ’re here.
We love you all, each and every one
Thanks for helping us keep BobÂ’s precious son.
