Page 2 of OCTVSBNE which shows hidden journaling which reads:
When visiting the White sands in Alamogordo, NM this past summer I had to stop and reflect on what I had experienced there. Yes, to some, it was just a huge white sand dune. It was hot, dry and pretty much barren. It stretched for miles. Miles and miles of nothing. But every so often there would be a small flicker of life protruding from the sand. A small plant or flower struggling to live in the most dire circumstances.
These small signs of life among the nothingness made me reflect on my life. There have been instances when my life has seemed just as barren as those sands. But out of no where would come a tiny flicker of life. One tiny instance of color in my barren world. Everyone goes through pain and sorrow in life, and everyone is offered this faint glimpse of hope and love. This is what these lone plants represented to me. A faint glimmer of hope nestled in a sea of nothingness. It gave me pause and it also gave me hope. Hope that even though I must endure pain, heartache, and sorrow in my life there will always be joy. Even if it doesnÂ’t seem like much, that one tiny speck of color in my life is worth going through all the barren days. For it is that color, that joy in which we are really here to experience.
