I'll do my best to try to explain my mini box ... so, here goes!
(I cut this template out and added the measurements to it so I could see it and have the ladies lay it on their papers to make sure they were cutting and scoring it correctly. It's not the best photo, but hopefully it gives you an idea of what I'm trying to explain! LOL!)
Cut your paper to 8.5 x 10.
On the 10" side - score 6" and flip it over and score 6" into the other side. This will leave 2" in the center of each score line.
Score 3/4" on each side. This is for the flap that folds over the finished box.
On the 8.5" side - score 6.5" on each side, like above: this will leave 4 3/8" in the center.
Now that the scoring is done - you need to cut into some of the score lines to allow it to fold up to form the box. On the 8.5" side, cut into the 3/4" up to the 6.5" score line on each side. On one side, cut off the extra flaps. On the 10" side, cut into the 2 middle score lines on each side of the paper.
Fold up and glue the bottom and side flaps together. Then, fold down the top flaps and secure down by using brads or threading ribbon and weaving it through the punched holes.
