I used parts of old background techniques: PearlEx and PPA with stars for the background. Encaustic wax, white EP on black CS, and textured hmp for the galaxies. Circle punches in 2 sizes. Star stamp is Judikins. holographic CS. Text was done in Ulead PhotoImpact.

encaustic wax is "painting" with pigmented wax and a hot iron. It is more popular in the UK, but I have seen beautiful works by American artists. A friend ordered a set of the wax sticks and iron, and we played with them one day. Ended up with some unique backgrounds. Here is a link that explains it better:
