journaling: You hear the water before you see it, 400 feet down the back of a sheer wall of lava is Waimoku Falls. It marks the beginning of the canyon and one of the most breathtaking sights we have ever found. Since it's been a wet year the water was running fast enough we did not cross the creek and hike over to the bottom of the falls, but enjoyed the peace and beauty of this place before we began our long hike back down the trail to the park entrance.
