Cheering You On, Mum
Added to Favorite

 F4A844 - Yellow and black
WT1102 - Sing a song (Daisy a day)
I just finished this card for my Mum, she broke her hip and is in rehab. It is slow progress, but we are cheering her on.
It is funny that when the card is so personal, so important, I couldnt decide what to make. It has taken me weeks to so isolate the idea and for the bits and pieces to arrive so I could get started. I gave it to Mum today.
Dry embossed the background, brushed 3 distress inks on shading each color into the next, and used green inks with the die cut leaves. I diecut the large cheering phrase, stacked it twice and layered it onto the vellum phrase outline. I die cut small alphabet letters to spell while you heal, and placed it onto a glossy black sentiment strip. I had to make the words big so Mum could read them.
The bird was colored with markers, & the daisies with different shades of yellow markers. Added glossy accents to bird and daisy centre. Scattered some yellow enamel dots to finish.

The soft yellow blending creates such a warm foundation for the layered elements and I love how the brushed inks flow into each other behind the embossed texture while the stacked cheering sentiment on vellum adds a bold focal point that pairs beautifully with the glossy black strip and tiny alphabet letters and the bird and daisies bring so much life with the rich marker coloring and glossy accents all finished perfectly with the scattered enamel dots.

That is beautiful, and so cheerful and uplifting. Fabulous work colouring the bird. The little yellow accents are a great finishing touch. I wish your mother a full recovery.
