 | | Karen is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she is welcoming in spring with the soft, sweet combination of Fresh Freesia, Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green. The dessert option is "Anything Goes." My dessert option is the Honey color used in a couple of the buds in the center of the design.
Using stencils for adding color has gotten to be one of my very favorite techniques. I think one trick is to always use at least two shades of a color on each stencil layer. I did that on this card, but the color differences are very subtle, and I'm not sure the photo really shows it. The bases of all the petals, leaves, and stems are a slightly different shade than the outer edges.
I started with a "Foil-It" panel, and ran it through my mini Minc machine with gold foil. Sadly, the gold dots show up as black in the photo, but IRL they really shine! I inked with the stencils, and mounted that panel on a Fresh Freesia layer with foam tape, then onto a white card base. Stamped and die cut the greeting and the backer, added them and a few clear drops.
These colors are so beautiful together, please play along with us and post your creation in the Gallery for us all to enjoy!
