So, I had this alcohol ink bg I made a ways back (sorry I don't remember which colors of COPIC reinkers I used). I was making another card and die cut the image from the corner because it captured the colors best for that die. I thought I might use the remainder for other die cuts but then this idea occurred to me.
I tried several shades of green behind the negative cut and landed on this dark bluish-green shade. The butterfly look a bit flat so I got out my SS EF, lined it up with the cut and embossed. I love the bit of texture it added. This is where my "smugness" came out. I was so proud of myself for first thinking of this and then for actually getting it lined up so close to the die cut. It's not perfect and there is other embossing that shows through so I really shouldn't crow. But I am anyways. LOL. I did rub a bit of metallic gold over the embossed image to bring out some of the details. And the "extra" embossing doesn't show as much IRL as it does here in the photo.
This particular EF comes with coordinating dies so next I will be more thoughtful about the design and use those two together which should give a a better match.
Hope you are having a day that makes you feel proud and accomplished. TFL

Beautiful card! That alcohol ink background is gorgeous. It was clever to think of using the empty space the way you did, and the embossing really adds a lot. You deserve to feel proud of your creation!
