This week the Teapotters are sending some paper hugs and cheer to our own Jen aka Miss Boo. She misses her father who passed last January so we are just "Chicken In" to let her know we care. You guessed it, our hostess challenged us to use chickens or chicks. Don't have any chicks in my stash but I do have two Chickadee dies. So that's how this happened.
This was my first time trying to color a chickadee and I used some pics from Cornell Bird Lab to help guide me. I didn't realize they had so much gray and some brownish on the underbelly. My gray got dark because I had a difficult time getting the blends I wanted, but it looks good on the card. Here's a link to the bird pics if you would like to check them out yourself: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/.../photo-gallery
Since I had a bird I went with nature and since I went with nature I went with green. The HUG is colored direct to paper with the CP ink and the leaves are die cut out of green cs. I die cut and stacked the base of the bird two more times to give it a bit of dimension from the rest of the card. The sentiment was typed using Avenir font.
As a card maker herself, I know Jen will love all the beautiful, fun and creative cards the Tea Potters are sending her way. I hope she also feels the care and love included. Hope you're feeling it too! TFL

Such a beautiful card, Debbie. I love the sweet chickadee and the beautiful embossed background and the pretty green leaves in the foreground.

I love everything about this card, Debbie! Your chickadee is adorable, and the coloring on the wing looks amazing! The big HUGS behind him with the intertwined branch is a fabulous way to situate him on the card. The embossed BG and gems polish it all off perfectly!

I love the direction you went with this card. A little chickadee is perfect...they're such sweet birds. I always enjoy watching them out my window. The green hug is a wonderful backdrop for the birdie...so cute. Fabulous design.
Beautiful card! It was so clever to think of a chickadee. I love the layout and colors on this card. Everything comes together so well, and the green rhinestones are the perfect finishing touch.
