Polly has thrown down a chick challenge to show support for own Jen-Miss Boo. Losing a Dad is tough - I lost three of them (Biological Dad, Dad, and Step Dad) so I know how tough it is.
To cheer up Jen, I am sending her a fun chicken sketch/painting I did this morning and some of my very own chicken scratch. My horrible handwriting is famous at any place I have ever worked - one place even made up a key to figure out my numbers and letters.
I used this week's technique challenge hosted by Jean to make the background. I rubbed watercolor crayons over a plaid stencil using some notebook paper, then I glued it to some thicker paper and ran the stencil and paper through my big shot which put on some light texture.
Fun challenges. Inside says, "Sorry about my chicken scratch" and some words of love for Jen.

Nancy, I laughed my head off when I saw your card. If your card does not make Jen laugh I don't know what will, because I can't stop laughing over that chicken face.

wow - this card is just mind-blowing. Did you hand write the background?? I'd love to find a background stamp like this. The chick is adorable and quite astounding... the bright colors are just remarkable. This card is simple marvelous and outrageous... what a fund card to send to Jen.

Nancy, I wondered if you would paint another chicken, so glad you did!!!!! Superb background, your chicken scratching looks marvelous. I really dislike all of my handwriting, even when it's neat and tidy. Probably because I always got a C in penmanship when I was in grade school, which made me mad.

Your background is fantastic - I love text/script backgrounds and that it's your own makes it special. (I was just thinking recently what an improvement it must be for pharmacies now that they get their prescriptions printed from the doctor and not scrawled!). And your chick, who looks as if it might be having a bad hair day, will make any day a good day.

Wow! That's all I can say--WOW! Fantastic work of art! (And if you make your "chicken scratch" into a background stamp, I would buy one!) TFS!
