I made this card for Eleanor's 96th Birthday, and the theme is old sayings and slang that have come and gone in the past 96 years.
I used Canva to design a bunch of common sayings that have passed by the wayside, arranged and colored them, and then printed them out twice. Next, I cut a '96' out of one layer with the cricut, and then replicated the '96' out of 4-5 pieces of same-size cardstock. I layered them together with glue to give it a multidimensional effect and then added a polka dot paper as the base layer.
Thanks for looking!
Initially, I had planned to use only the phrases on the background, and it worked fine, but I wanted to make the card more special. So, I turned the background into multiple colors, but it still felt a bit dull. However, I remembered a technique I learned from another challenge about 9 months ago, and I used it to enhance the card's appearance. Now, I'm happy with how the card turned out

What a wonderful card! Those are some great sayings you came up with, and I love the "96" cut out in the center (reverse eclipse technique?). Such a fun card to celebrate Eleanor's birthday and long life!

So fun! Love that you added all the colors which to my eye makes it more celebratory than a single color might. Love the "96" handing out in the middle. I bet Eleanor will have a blast reading this over and over. Great card.

The eclipse technique looks good. I am telling my eyes that from your description the polka dot is the base and the numbers are raised. My eyes are trying me the numbers are recessed and the polka dot is a raised frame! It looks like a lot of dimension, and I enjoyed reading through all the different words. The colours reality make a celebration card. There were a few words I didn't recognise, but not many ( I have to say that growing up without TV till my mid teens, and not having had one for over 30 years) my American cultural influences come more from books and occasional movies so I was happy to recognise as many as I did.
