Since religious and faith-based messages would be appreciated by this week's Tea Party recipient, I started by pulling out my bag of angel images, most of which were cut from catalogs over the years. After looking through them, I chose this one because of its depiction of sisters. I hope it makes Nancy think of the special connection that sisters share, even when one of them has passed from this world.
While searching for something else (isn't that how it always happens), I found this embossed vellum frame. Years ago, when I lived in Austin, a friend of mine worked in a greeting card shop. Sadly, the shop went out of business. But, on the bright side, the shop no longer needed its books of card samples, so my friend gave them to me. This vellum frame is a sample from one of them.
The angel and the frame seemed to be all I needed for a CAS card. I started by using a strip of adhesive tape to adhere the middle of the velum to a piece of pink cardstock (the tape is hidden by the angel). Then I adhered the vellum corners with white brads. I've started using an awl to punch the holes for brads, and for me, it's been a huge improvement. In the past, I used a tiny hole puncher, but I had trouble getting the placement right. And, of course, I could only punch as far as the puncher could reach. Using an awl solves both those problems.
With the vellum adhered, I stuck down the angel image with a mix of adhesive tape and glue paste. I deliberately left her wings free so they would lift off the card a little. Finally, it was just a matter of attaching everything to a very pale pink card base.
I hope this card brings a little cheer to Nancy. It sounds like she's dealing with a lot.
