The inky background was done with distress and DOX inks on watercolor paper. I usually use heavy cs, but this does give a different result, so I may use watercolor paper more often.
The tulip image is mostly solid, so I used the watercolor pencils direct to rubber in my stamp platform so I could just keep adding layers until I got good coverage. When dry, I added wink of stella to the blossoms.
