One of my favorite musicals is The Sound of Music, and that's what came to mind when I read the description for this week's Teaparty, The World's Her Stage. Polly (peeps321) is challenging us to work a theater/music angle onto our cards, for our recipient who suffered a stroke. Annie is a former theater director.
I went with an easel card as I thought it would allow me to showcase my interpretation of that iconic scene of Maria singing the title song, flinging out her arms as she dances across a field of flowers with the Swiss Alps in the background. My hills include a music score, and the greeting includes "little notes". :-)
Stamped and masked the mountains several times in Brocade Blue ink on white CS, then used a blender pen to color them. Stamped the tops of the trees with Garden Green ink near the bottom of the mountains, and filled in the "ground" with a green colored pencil. Used a blending brush to gently add the sky with Soft Sky shadow ink.
Stamped the dancing lady onto white CS with the Obsidian ink, then stamped her dress on blue PP and her hat on yellow PP. Fussy-cut everything out, and paper-pieced her dress and hat back on her. Used a colored pencil for her arms and legs, and the bit of ground she is standing on. Popped her up on the hills with some foam tape. (I did color her slip with a colored pencil, as I realized--too late!--that I had cut it off of the blue PP!)
Stamped the keyboard 3 times across a piece of white CS, layered it onto Boho Blue CS and then onto PP, with more Boho Blue CS layers to create a "stop" for the easel.
I love making easel cards, and don't do them often enough! This one was so much fun to make! TFL!

You say fun to make and I say fun to look at. I love how you interpreted the song from that classic movie. Your masking and repetitive stamping created a beautiful alpine scene. And your "Maria" is singing to them in equally beautiful measure. Love that you made it an easel card so Annie will be able to enjoy it all the time. Fabulous card, my friend.

Just awesome! As soon as I saw your card, I started singing "the hills are alive . . ." One of my all-time favorite movies and such a marvelous interpretation of it on your card! It danced right into my fav's.

This is so creative and perfectly epitomizes The Sound of Music.....it's got everything..the Alps, the music, Maria dancing and singing! This works so well as an easel card. LOVE it!

The hills are alive with the sound of music. This was the 2nd movie I saw in a theatre (showing my age, aren't I?) and I've always loved it. Your interpretation leaves no doubt as to which musical you chose. Well done.

Such a beautifully created easel card inspired by The Sound Of Music! This musical was the first thing I thought of when I saw the challenge! I have seen the film many many times - as I’m sure everyone has - and seen the musical on the stage.

This is fabulous! I love that movie, too. I thought of it when I saw your card before I even read the description. Lots of creativity went into this one. Beautifully done!
