Chris is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has selected Melon Mambo, Very Vanilla and Pecan Pie. The desert option is Anything Goes, so my dessert option is a Sympathy Card.
This is what happens when you try to do two-step stamping with a one-step stamp! No, you're not seeing double. My treasured old stamps are still on their wood blocks, and although I love my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I don't get perfect placement with it.
I inked the stamp with Brushed Corduroy DOX, then carefully removed the brown ink from the blossoms using a tiny blending brush and a damp cloth. After I stamped, I cleaned the stamp and stamped selectively so all the flowers were inked up. Then I used the same technique to remove pink ink from the leaves and stems. You don't have to look very carefully to see that the ink removal wasn't perfect, nor was the second stamping placement. I've decided to embrace the result; I'm calling it "the shadow effect"! The flower sprig and the greeting are clear heat embossed for a little shine.
I cut a scalloped layer from Melon Mambo cardstock, used a Pecan Pie card base, and added a strip of tan ribbon. The melon and vanilla layers are popped up on foam tape. A few sparkly pink gems, and it is done!
Thank for taking a look! Please join us in the Color Challenge this week!

I love the elegant simplicity of your sympathy card Barbara. I like the double stamping you did for your image-a creative idea and it adds a nice touch.

The shadow give this image a lot of depth. Isn't it wonderful when things we didn't plan turn out so well? I love the layout and the bold Melon mambo background.

Well shiver me timbers and blow me down....this looks like a 3-D Beauty, Barbara! I Love the effect and the way your flowers seem to Pop off the page! As Bob Ross would have said, "It was a happy accident."

This has always been such a pretty and serene set, and it looks so lovely in these colours, Barbara. Your double stems lend a lovely shadow and depth effect.
