The last three weeks we have been doing winter scenes. This is my favorite one. Thanks Kia for finding this video. It is not a card size, but painting size. Watched the video twice. I only did two birch trees and I used the technique that Brenda gave us using the credit card. Here is the link to the challenge WCW176-WCW176 Birch trees by Holstein at Splitcoaststampers
Sketched it on cheap paper. The size is 9x9. Taped it down, sketched and painted trying to follow her technique. I didn't splatter the white like she did. When I took off the tape it ripped the paper. I added a little more weeds on the right side to cover the mistake. I did like how she wet the paper before we painted. Hindsight is always 20/20. I should have used better paper when using that much water. Next time. My favorite tip on this video is how she took three colors and painted the whole picture. The colors are ultra marine, burnt sienna and my favorite color quinacridone gold. Come join us for our first challenge of the new year!

Beautiful scene and painting, Linda. I love your water and I wish I had stuck to three colors. I used an old credit card on my birch trees, also. Love your little birdhouse.

Definitely frame worthy in your 9x9, Sallie. I love how you did a red roof and a wood box look with the versatility of the colours. The depth and reflection in your water are pretty spectacular from my standpoint I can see why you are so pleased with your results, they’re wonderful.

Linda, this is stunning! I'm thinking I need to follow your approach and do a larger format for this one. You used my favorite technique to create those birches. And Quinacridone gold is my favorite as well. I always reach for it to add that warmth.

Absolutely wonderful! Your painting just glows, as intended, and I do prefer the method you used for the birches, too! This is a beautiful piece of art!

Pretty painting, Linda. I love how your trees came out - they look fabulous. I am impressed you went big too. I also liked her (and your) use of three colors (I used 4 - oops - I totally forget that part). Really well done. Hugz
